Our 2012 Conference and AGM is going to take place on the 28th June in Hope Church Newtown and we really want you all to come.

We are joining forces with the Wales Council for Voluntary Action Network 3 to put together a day that will be exciting and an important step forward to making Citizen Directed Support a reality for the people of Wales.

Jane Hutt AM, Minister for Finance & Leader of the House

We are really pleased that Jane Hutt AM, (Minister for Finance & Leader of the House) will be talking about the Welsh Government’s framework for Action on Independent Living.

In the afternoon we will be joined by cooperative development specialist Mick Taylor and Executive Director of the British Columbia Cooperative Association John Restakis who will help us talk about Cooperative Approaches to Social Services in Wales.

The event will close with members and supporting organisations pledging the action that they will take to make Citizen Directed Support a reality for the people around them.

We want you to do two things:

Professor Edgar Cahn

Edgar Cahn who is widely known as the father of Time Banking has given this interview to Governance International.

In this interview he discusses his views on user and community co-production of public services, you can read the interview here.

The first All in this Together event last month was a sell-out; the presentations and the enthusiasm of the 64 participants suggests that co-production is an idea whose time has come.

Our intention is:

• To      define a Welsh vision of co-production that builds on our traditions of      mutualism and cooperation
• To      make this Welsh model of co-production the primary method of service      commissioning and delivery in Wales

At the next event Nick Dixon from Stockport BC is giving a presentation on their People-powered Health initiative which has had a huge impact on service delivery for the elderly and for those with disabilities and mental health problems, and Becky Booth from Spice & Geoff Thomas from Time Banking Wales will talk about the capacity of time banking to revitalise communities and increase wellbeing.
