I strongly support the focus on a personal outcomes approach, and the suggestion that we build on the Scottish Government’s Talking Points model rather than reinventing the wheel. I think this is the key to a shift in culture. Colleagues in the health sector are also interested in this approach and are off to Scotland next month to look at how they are integrating health and social care. This could mean that a personal outcomes approach is adopted across both sectors which would be a sign of real progress in relation to citizen-empowerment – and partnership working.

This project will build on the Transition Project work that we did in Monmouthshire, and should generate some more knowledge about what works with Self-Directed Support, particularly with groups of families working together.

Hi Rosemary,
I wonder whether we could discuss this at all. I have been providing services via personal budgets only in Wrexham. I am thinking if starting up precisely what you are talking about, a small community interest company to take this forward. If you are sorted now that is brilliant but if you would like to discuss the inclusive model I am considering then please let me know on jayneknight2@me.com. I am planning an open day in the new year with some parents and people who I have been assisting to further this. I plan also to offer some possibilities in denbighshire. I may have some help in getting some premises in wrexham too but would like to see more of a community based place for this.

Thanks Debbie. I have e-mailed them. I have just done some more sums. I believe Providers usually take at least 20% for on-costs. I think my son’s Provider is taking more than 40% if I have done my sums right!
I’d really like to hear from some-one in “All In It Together 2″ if possible.
