Thanks for the opportunity to comment on this.

I think the following sentence could be enhanced; from:

” CDS is seen to provide the opportunity to rebalance the nature of the social worker/client relationship, developing a transactional/co-productive partnership …”

” CDS is seen to provide the opportunity to rebalance the nature of the social worker/client relationship and/or the support service /service user reationship, developing a transformational /co-productive partnership …”

I also think it would be great if the LIN could recognise that as part of the whole system approach; effective care co-ordination and commissioning would inlude a reduction of the input / output monitoring burden on providers, enabling them to focus more on promoting person centred practices and outcomes based approaches.

I agree that this is the question. At the last Council meeting we discussed proposing a process (which I am working on) that involves citizens widely in developing the outcomes that would be the foundation of the Assembly’s approach to outcomes. An approach like this was used in Scotland and was called Talking Points. If this really involved people it would give people to tools to work with providers and commissioners equally to say ‘why are my services / experiences not like these outcomes’. This process might give a real way in to the process of individual citizens and citizen groups.

The graphic is well designed and easy to follow and in essence defines a process. My thoughts are: Where is the Citizen in this? We have to be Citizen driven not process driven or at least have the Citizen driving the process.

Support Request:(re developing Alternative Services)

Seeking to develop a community and citizen run Micro Bakery enterprise.in Pembrokeshire.
I have developed a few training modules around Baking Bread and have trialed them in 2 Day Centres in the County. I would like to take this initiative into the community and link up with 3 rd sector Support Providers to identify a group of men willing to come together on a regular basis to learn about the art of making bread. This will take place in Newport Memorial Hall at weekends or in the evening.
After the initial sessions the aim would be to
- invite the community to community baking events where we will share our skills and also make plenty of bread together. this will promote inclusion and demonstrate that we all have something to share.
- Develop a plan to open a micro bakery, this is an initiative that will make up to 50 loaves on 2 days of the week and sell to the local community.

Yes, I enjoyed the day and learned so much. I think its now time to take the ZEN out of CITIZEN, as contemplation and navel gazing do not work in the 21st Century, its now about ACTION, ACTION AND ACTION.

For me it was a great day with so much positive energy. However one of my favourite moments of the day was at the end watching a number of voluntary sector Chief Execs each armed with a hoover clearing up the mess left by the confetti canons – true public servants …..

Can care really be “Delivered” by a bureaucracy or a corporate enterprise? I believe the future is in self directed care -However there will be a massive need for access to expertise and information sharing- so thank God for the internet and organisations such as WACDS.
