Stories of change – Making Systems Change

This change is not all about people who use services, it is also about professionals and agencies trying to find ways of changing their services from within, thanks to Debbie Griffiths from Reach Support for this really inspiring story. If you want to contact Deb please email us and we will put you in touch, alternatively leave a comment below.

My story is about my journey working in the finance team in a large provider organisation as we prepare ourselves for personalisation and all of the system changes we need to make to get there.

As Management Accountant in reach, I was doing things that the management accountants do – monthly accounts, the annual budget, year-end accounts, etc. From time to time there was need to change systems and introduce new ones as the business grows and develops. But when 2 yrs ago, reach began to look at what Personalisaton and Individualised Budgets would mean for us and the people we support, it very quickly became apparent to me that the way our background systems worked would need to change radically. For sure, there was lots for operational staff to get to grips with, but for me, I could see the huge task that was needed in all the background systems.

So where to start?
