What does L’Arche Brecon do to support people in Wales?
“A registered charity (No:- 264166) L’Arche began in 1964 in rural France There are more than 135 communities in 36 countries. In L’Arche communities, people with and without learning disabilities live and work together. L’Arche came to the UK in 1974. There are ten UK communities, home to more than 130 men and women with learning disabilities L’Arche Brecon began in 1988.
In our community people with and without learning disabilities live together in committed friendship but with close links with the wider local community
We have access to an international network of friendship, support and expertise
We live in ordinary houses in ordinary neighbourhoods
We offer typically, one-to-one support
We develop projects and activities with the intention of creating social enterprises where people with learning disabilities can gain worthwhile employment – one of our most exciting projects is Rebound Books – recycling and selling books destined for landfill – see http://www.reboundbooks.co.uk”;
