Welcome to Cartrefi Cymru’s Members Page
When agencies join our Alliance we ask them a number of questions so they can tell us all about the things that they are interested in and want to contribute to the Alliance.
You can get a lot more information about Cartrefi Cymru at their website at www.cartreficymru.org.uk
What does Cartrefi Cymru do to support people in Wales?
Our Vision Statement expresses the highest hopes we have for a better future. This will be a better future for everyone, including the people we support. Cartrefi Cymru is seeking to contribute towards the creation of a society where all people enjoy full rights and responsibilities as citizens.
Our Mission Statement states simply and clearly what our role is in seeking the better future of our Vision. Our role is about providing positive support for people in the context of their local community. We do not exclude anyone from our help, but our geographical focus is Wales.
Cartrefi Cymru’s mission is to enable people to enjoy fulfilling lives as part of our communities in Wales. Cartrefi Cymru work is driven by an aspiration that people will be:
- Respected
- Safeguarded
- Enabled
These ‘drivers’ clearly apply to the people we support, but they also apply to our communities and to our staff. In other words, they inform our attitude towards all our stakeholders.
What will Cartrefi Cymru want from the alliance for it to be successful?
We hope that by being active members of the alliance we will be:
- Inspired by others
- Informed by others
- Challenged by others
- Partnered by others
- Appreciated and encouraged by others
We want to collaborate with other groups and individuals that have a shared interest in developing healthy and inclusive communities and empowering options for people with social care and housing related support needs.
What can Cartrefi Cymru offer in terms of time, enthusiasm, expertise, and resources to supporting the development of Citizen Directed Support across Wales?
We can contribute the following:
- Management time in support of innovative change to any of our services and communities in eleven local authority areas.
- Participation Officers time ditto, with particular reference to user involvement in management tasks (eg. Staff recruitment and supervision), and friendship making.
- Staff Development Officer time ditto, with particular reference to applying training and accreditation expertise to the context of a citizen-directed workforce.
- ICT Officer time ditto, with particular reference to multi-site networks, frontline ICT access, and assistive technology.
- Lessons being learned from efforts to promote community involvement and social enterprise development in the RCT area.
- Lessons being learned from efforts to develop Time-Banking in Bridgend county borough.
- Lessons being learned from providing Personal Assistants to Direct Payments users in Bridgend.
- Venues for training, meetings and social events in Cardiff, Bridgend, Pontypool, Trealaw, Brecon, Llandrindod, Newtown, Tremadog, and Bangor (and in 2012 Carmarthen), either for a reasonable charge, or if of direct benefit to the people we support, for free.
- Ditto for video conferencing facilities between Cardiff, Llandrindod and Bangor.
Any other Comments?
As an organisation, we have an explicit goal of collaborating with not for profit organisations in order to build community. We have always prided ourselves on having strong values that not only focus on the rights of the people we support but also encourage us to be open and sharing towards others. We welcome the opportunity to work with like-minded organisations in the alliance.
