At our November Members Open space we looked at the latest documents from the Assembly about the development of Sustainable Social Services for Wales.
- You can get the latest information about the Sustainable Social Services Programme Framework by following the link.
- You can also get information about the development of the Social Services Bill by following this link.
Alliance members discussed these documents you can see a record of the ‘flipcharted’ notes by following this link.
Some Alliance members views were
- Citizen ‘centred’ services and Citizen ‘directed’ services are not the same we must push for services and supports directed by the people who use them.
- The social model of disability must underpin this work.
- Independent advocacy is critical.
- Outcomes should be generated by the citizens and should support a rights based way of working.
If we are going to make Citizen Directed Support a day to day reality for people in Wales we must take the time to understand and engage with the Assembly over Sustainable Social Services for Wales.
